NORTH LITTLE ROCK – Argenta Community Theater is pleased to announce public auditions for Thornton Wilder’s OUR TOWN, a 1938 metatheatrical three-act play by American playwright Thornton Wilder which won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. The play tells the story of the fictional American small town of Grover’s Corners between 1901 and 1913 through the everyday lives of its citizens. Our Town is consistently regarded as one of the greatest American plays, and is often presented in schools and in communities around the world. ACT will be performing 3 student matinees for both public and private schools. For school performance information, please contact [email protected]
Auditions will be held on December 11 and 12 at the Argenta Community Theater. Please see details below. Performances will be held at ACT March 9-19 including 3 daytime student matinees.
The 2022 production of OUR TOWN is presented by The Tenenbaum Foundation, Legacy Termite and Pest Control, the City of North Little Rock, the Arkansas Arts Council and the NLR Convention and Visitors Bureau.
OUR TOWN is directed by Ben Grimes who last directed 2019’s A Streetcar Named Desire, an ACT production held in collaboration with ACANSA.

Dr. Gibbs Male Supporting Age: Mature Adult
Mrs. Gibbs Female Supporting Age: Mature Adult
Mr. Webb Male Supporting Age: Mature Adult
Mrs. Webb Female Supporting Age: Mature Adult
Youth Ensemble Any Gender Supporting Age: 10 -18 years old
Ensemble Characters include Mrs. Soames, Simon Stimson, Rebecca Gibbs, Wally Webb, Howie Newsome, Joe Crowell, Jr., Si Crowell, Professor Willard and Constable Warren. Youth ensemble will consist of Rebecca Gibbs, Wally Webb, Jo / Si Crowell, and baseball players. Auditions for these character roles will be held by reading for one of the leading or supporting characters.
*Auditions are for all ages – note the age suggestion by the character
*Seeking a diverse ensemble of actors of all races, ethnicities, genders, and ages.
*Most roles will be part of the ensemble and some actors will play multiple characters
*Audition sides will be available when your appointment is confirmed. To prepare we suggest you read the play, and become familiar with the story and any characters for which ou plan to audition.
Special Note
ACT’s COVID-19 policy includes that all cast members must be fully vaccinated before rehearsals begin, unless they are not eligible to be vaccinated. ACT requires all patrons, casts and employees to be fully vaccinated and proof of vaccination is required before admittance to see a show at ACT.
