The Columbus Black Theatre Festival (CBTF)

black and white male and female actors

The Columbus Black Theatre Festival (CBTF) is proud to produce plays and monologues that give dramatic voice to the diversity and the complexity of the African-American experience. The current COVID-19 crisis has caused all of us in theatre to come up with creative ways to present live performances to our faithful audiences. In order to comply with current and possible future restrictions regarding large group gatherings and in an abundance of caution for our audiences and our performers, this year’s CBTF will be presented as a live virtual event featuring a series of fully staged monologues and short 2 and 3 character plays. Auditions will be held through the online streaming service, Zoom, Saturday, May 23 from 5:30p-8:20p. To audition, you must sign-up for an audition timeĀ  To audition, please prepare a 90 sec. monologue. You will be timed – after 90 seconds you will be stopped. Be prepared to do your monologue several times, incorporating any director’s notes or suggestions into each performance of your audition piece. Casting for the 8th CBTF includes black and white male and female actors. Age range: mid-teens through 65+. Specific character descriptions, a brief synopsis of each piece and complete audition details are available on the audition sign up page,
