Altarena Playhouse is holding auditions for A Nice Family Gathering by Phil Olsen Anderson. Directed by Kimberly Ridgeway.
It’s Thanksgiving Day in Minnesota, and the first family gathering at the Lundeen household since Dad died. At the gathering, Dad comes back as a ghost with a mission; to tell his wife of 35 years that he loved her, something he neglected to tell her while he was alive. Problem 1: she can’t hear or see him. Problem 2: Mom has invited a date for dinner.
Audition Dates: Saturday, July 9th, 2 pm – 6 pm and Sunday, July 10th, 2 PM – 6 pm.
Call Backs: Saturday, July 23d, 12 pm – 3 pm.
Rehearsals begin approximately September 6, 2022
Tech Week: October 15 – 20, 2022
Performances: October 21 – November 20, 2022 (Fri/Sat/Sun, plus Thurs. 11/17)
Auditions will be held at the Altarena Playhouse, 1409 High Street, Alameda, CA
Performers of all races, ethnicities, and genders are encouraged to audition. Non-AEA only. Stipend provided.
Characters*:
Carl Lundeen: The Middle Brother, the only one who can see Dad. Easily rattled, very much a grudge holder. 30s – 40s
Mom: Sweet, a little naïve, 60s – 70s
Dad: Though dead, still set in his ways. Has a clear agenda, no matter who it affects. 60s – 70s
Michael: The Older Brother, The responsible, successful one…or is he?30s – 40s
Jill: Michael’s Wife, hopped up on hormone drugs and is a little erratic. 20s – 30s
Stacy: The Younger Sister, the “invisible one” with a couple of bombshell secrets to drop…if anyone would pay attention to her. 20s – 30s
Jerry: The Gentleman Caller, the innocent friend of the family…who’s intentions may not be so innocent. 60s – 70s
*All characters speak with a Minnesota accent. Not required for auditions, but will use accents for performances.
