Disney’s Aladdin, Jr. will be directed and choreographed by Ron Cisneros with Musical Direction by Steve Isaacson and Montana Monce.
Young Performers Theater productions are gender-inclusive and all roles are open to all auditionees.
Aladdin: A poor street urchin who longs to make his mother proud but sometimes loses his way. This thief with a heart of gold is charming and a strong singer/performer. Requires versatility to play the funny, slick prankster as well as the romantic lead.
Jasmine: Feisty and rebellious, yet genuinely sweet and somewhat naïve.
Sultan: The warm-hearted ruler who dotes on their daughter is committed to upholding the ancient laws of Agrabah.
Jafar: The power-hungry and crooked Grand Vizier. This performer will sing and portray both sides of Jafar’s two-faced personality – loyal advisor to the Sultan and scheming villain – as well as pull off delicious comedic moments with their lackey, Iago.
Iago: The fawning and funny sidekick to Jafar. Iago delivers many sarcastic asides with comedic flair.
Genie: A fast-talking, scene-stealing funny character. Genie doesn’t need to be the strongest singer and dancer – the ability to do comedy is much more important. Should have a flashy and fun sense of showmanship.
Babkak, Omar, and Kassim: They are Aladdin’s three loyal and playful pals. Babkak is the Agrabahn foodie who loves to snack, kindhearted Omar has a sensitive soul, and stubborn Kassim yearns to be a leader.
Isir, Manal, and Rajah: They are Jasmine’s devoted attendants, keep the Princess grounded with their honesty and openness. Isir, whose name means “inspiration,” is optimistic; Manal, “achievement,” is assertively encouraging; and Rajah, “hope,” is the most protective.
Razoul: The rough and commanding head of the palace guards will portray an intimidating leader who answers to Jafar.
Prince Abdullah: One of Princess Jasmine’s haughty and arrogant suitors.
Ensemble: Guards, Townspeople, Prince Abdullah’s Attendants, Shop Owner, Fortune Teller, Beggars, Apple Vendor, Cave of Wonders, Spooky Voice, Prince Ali’s Entourage, etc.
