ROWENA TUTTLE – 30s, A white woman with a beautifully maintained facade and a consistent air of desperation. Aggressively charming. Has country roots which have a tendency to show in high-stress situations.
TAD TUTTLE – 30s, White and privileged, prep school educated. An Atlanta attorney. Obsequious, thoughtful, nonchalant. Likely owns a shocking number of khaki trousers.
MRS. KELLEY – 20s – 40s, Rowena’s assistant. A Black woman; clever, adept at assuming a role, and brilliant with spontaneous narrative.
ETHELENE – 50s, Rowena’s mother. Optimistic, cheerful, utterly devoted to her daughter. Absurd, irrational, strange, and unhinged.
OLIVER – 30s, A tennis pro at the Tuttles’ country club. White guy. Athletic, handsome, unflappable. Not one of the great minds of his generation.
CHRISTI DUNBAR-RHODES – 30s, Arlette’s Wife. White. British, aristocratic, a flawless WASP. Owner of a boutique art gallery. Everything Rowenea attempts to be. A well-practiced smile and perfect poise.
ARLETT DUNBAR-RHODES – 30s, Christi’s Wife. Nonwhite. Sleek, stylish, aspirational. A powerful business person with a very influential position at a tech startup; for what, no one really knows.
