Now accepting auditions for Page to Stage Virtual Playwrights Festival 2020: That’s What She Said!
The purpose of the Page to Stage Playwrights Festival is to nurture new plays by providing playwrights an opportunity to showcase their works for audiences in our community. This year’s festival will be produced in conjunction with the That’s What She Said Women Writers Collective and aims to provide a platform for the female voice.
Auditions – online form accepting submissions August 28 – September 11, 2020
Rehearsals – selected dates between September 21 – October 10, 2020
Staged virtual readings – October 2-11, 2020
***Please note that the staged readings will take place live at the Curtis Theatre in Brea, CA, and then be streamed to our audience. All performers must be able to attend the reading for which they are scheduled IN PERSON. Social distancing and enhanced sanitation protocols will be in place. Rehearsals will take place virtually over Zoom. There is some pay.***

Synopsis: This is the story of how life-long friends deal with anticipating the death of one of their own. While the focus is not hair, its importance to black women is far from ignored.

Synopsis: This is the story of an overweight woman who is asked to lose weight for her sister’s wedding. It explores the grey areas of living life as an overweight person – the in-between of hating your body and celebrating it completely.

Synopsis: Ivy and Nora decide that even in their 70s, it’s never too late to embark on a new adventure. An irreverent, heartwarming comedy.

“A Dry Rosé – A Lesbian Love Story or Something Very Similar” by Missy Koonce
Synopsis: This is a coming of (older) age comedy dealing with the lives of four lesbian women, between the ages of 45 and 60(ish), and how they navigate dating in this computer and social media saturated society, as well as confronting their feelings about the loss of gay culture amongst the younger generations within the LGBTQ community.
GERTY F late 40s – mid 50s, semi-confident, but strong. A quick wit with a soft touch. Identifies as Lesbian.
KAT F mid 50s – early 60s, extremely confident and comfortable in her skin. She is neither butch nor fem, but somewhere inbetween; very much a woman. Identifies as Lesbian.
NIK F 40s, self assured, poised and punny. She is a bartender and business owner that takes great interest in her regulars and their lives. Identifies as Lesbian.
ALICE F 40s, subtle, at ease, kind and lovely. The kind of woman that you want to know and that makes you feel like she wants to know you. Identifies as Lesbian.
That’s What She Said Women Writers Collective is an Orange County, CA based organization formed in 2016 to pursue the goal of equal representation in theatre. It has since grown from a core group of playwrights to include poets, novelists, and screenplay writers. Our mission is to support female writers by creating a network of artists and opportunities.
