Two sisters and a dog live out their lives on the bleak English moors, dreaming of love and power. The arrival of a hapless governess and a moor-hen set all three on a strange and dangerous path. The Moors is a dark comedy about love, desperation, and visibility.
Agatha*, woman, 30s-50s. Elder spinster sister. Spidery. Dangerous. Powerful.
Hudley*, woman, 20s-30s. Younger spinster sister. She has a diary. She wants to be famous.
Emilie*, woman, 20s-30s. The governess. A romantic.
Marjory, woman, 30s-40s. The scullery maid. Down-trodden. Strategic.
The Mastiff, man, 20s-30s. The dog. A sad philosopher-king
A Moor-hen, woman, 20s-30s. A small chicken. Practical and very present-tense.
*Those auditioning for Agatha, Hudley, and Emilie are asked to prepare 30 seconds of a song without accompaniment, as these characters sing in the play*
Until further notice, we require all actors to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, and to wear masks during auditions and rehearsals.
