Big Hit Entertainment
looking to put together a new boy band through global auditions
Big Hit Entertainment are looking to put together a new boy band through global auditions to follow in the footsteps of BTS. The South Korean entertainment company which manages BTS, TXT and Lee Hyun are looking for people from around the world to audition for the chance to be in a new boy band. Applications on their website opened on 1 June and will close on 10 July worldwide, except for the USA which closes on 31 July. A notice was posted on the Big Hit website saying: ‘Big Hit Entertainment, the label that manages BTS and TOMORROW X TOGETHER, is now looking for individuals with talent and passion who will be the next global superstar.
‘Big Hit Entertainment supports you in striving for your dreams. We look forward to your participation.’ Auditionees need to be born after 2003 and only boys can apply for this upcoming band and will have to submit photos and videos showing why they should be chosen to be a potential idol and their singing, dancing and rapping ability.
The hopefuls will have to pass two evaluation stages before the final line-up is announced on 9 October. Last year’s Big Hit Global Audition was held in various countries around the world including Canada, Australia and Bangkok among others, this year’s process will be entirely online due to travel restrictions from the coronavirus pandemic. This year’s applicants will also get to pitch themselves as all-rounders as opposed to last year where hopefuls had to choose one category to apply in, between vocal, rap, dance, acting, and modelling.
The application process will consist of four stages beginning with the online application, followed by two rounds of evaluation and the final decisions being announced, with applicants who have passed the initial stage being contacted individually. While BTS are a massive target to aim for thanks to their world domination over the past few years, there’s always room for more idols in the charts.
