Brunswick Little Theater

Males and Females 18-60's

Mom’s Gift by Phil Olson
Synopsis: In this comedy with true heart, mom has been dead for a little under a year but shows up at her husband’s birthday party….as a ghost! Like Clarence in “It’s A Wonderful Life” she, too, has to accomplish a task to earn her wings. However, only her older daughter Kat can see and hear her. Kat is home too but she’s home due to a court order to spend time with her dad as part of her anger management program. As friends and other family get involved the chaos ensues…leading to a truly surprising ending!

Character Breakdown:
An age range has been provided, if you can play somewhere in or close to the range, we’d like you to come out and audition!
Kat (mid 20’s to mid 30’s) – The older daughter. Acerbic, very smart but also likeable with a good sense of humor. She is equal portions sarcastic and sympathetic.
Mom (mid 40’s to early 60’s) – Deeply caring and also a lovely sense of humor.
Dad (mid 40’s to early 60’s) – A Dr. and kind man. Reserved and tends to hold his cards close to his chest.
Brittney (18 to early 20’s) – The younger daughter. Energetic but ditzy. Sincere and genuine. Works at Hooters.
Trish (mid 40’s to early 60’s) – A nurse. A friend of dad’s and a kind person.
Kevin (mid 20’s to mid 30’s) – Went to school with Kat. Very smart and successful professionally. Likeable guy.
Mrs. Norquist (70’s or older) – This part is written as a voiceover but it’s possible she’ll be on stage. Nosey neighbor and far too direct!
