CASTING CALL FOR INDIE LABEL / PAID

Indie Label is a comedy series about music, musicians, and self-sabotage.

“In the spring of the year 2000, in Salt Lake City, frustrated with their respective bands going nowhere, Travis and Ben are inspired to start an independent record label, Order Out of Chaos Records.
The inspiration comes after seeing a show by the undiscovered and unsigned “Reverb Meadow”, an indie rock band formed by singer and guitar player Oliver who spends all his time hustling for the band, gear obsessed Francis on lead guitar, Tom on drums who lives a double life after his wife forbade him to play music, and Stuart on bass, a Brit (Allegedly).

The Story is told from the present day with flashbacks to key moments in the history of Order Out of Chaos and the band’s history ”

Auditions will take place Wednesday, May 12, between 4-7pm.

ROLES:

BEN

Ben is a geeky, nervous, and insecure guy that used to be in a local band that went nowhere. Now he is in the independent record business with his best friend, Travis. Together they formed Order Out of Chaos Record.

FRANCIS

Francis plays lead guitar in the indie rock band, Reverb Meadow. He is snobby when it comes to music and being a musician, and is often dry in his communication. He has a music gear addiction problem. (Guitar skills a plus)

ERNIE

Ernie is an over-zealous guitar tech. He is also a conspiracy theorist. He is very confident in who he is, and the factual evidence he has. Rage in his eyes is very visible if anyone tries to disagree with him. (Guitar skills a plus)

ZEUS

Zeus is a neo-hippie who thinks he is a transcended being and musician, but his music is awful. Despite trying to keep an image of peace and zen, he is a desperate artist that is always looking for opportunities to get his foot in the door to be part of the roster of Order Out of Chaos. (Guitar skills a plus)

VALERIE

Valerie is the wife of Reverb Meadow’s drummer, Tom. Valerie forbade Tom to play music once she got tired of seeing him coming back drunk after gigs, and with no money to help the family. Tom eventually kept playing drums for Reverb Meadow behind Valerie’s back.

BETH

Beth is Francis’ wife. She is an accountant that enjoys living the high life. She is proud of her husband’s skills and talent with the guitar, but as far as she knows Francis only owns 3 guitars, and thinks that he has his past addiction to music gear under control.

ALPHONSE

A Janitor that looks like Hitler. Heavy German accent. Gentle in his speech, but with a dark anger bottled inside him. He loves German polka, and abhors rock music.

RYAN

A Real Estate Agent who tries to sell or lease his properties to the highest bidder. Travis and Ben managed to break that rule.
