CASTING CALL FOR USC MFA INTERMEDIATE DIRECTING CLASS.
Description: A one-semester directing class with prolific comedy director Barnet Kellman. Auditions, callbacks, and rehearsals will be conducted remotely on Zoom, culminating in the filming of a two-person scene from the movie 50/50. We will have two in-class rehearsals in the afternoons of 10/22 and 11/12, in addition to various remote online rehearsal sessions. Take this as a free acting class, with something that may be added to your reel.
Logline: After being diagnosed with a type of rare spinal cancer, a 27-year-old must learn what he truly holds dear in the remaining of his life.
ADAM (18-32, All ethnicity male): a young radio station journalist who is recently diagnosed with a rare spinal cancer. The diagnosis has sent his tranquil life upside down. While struggling with his conditions – as well as his relationship with his lover, friends, and family – this kind and docile character must learn to take agency of his own life.
KYLE (18-32, All ethnicity male): Adam’s flaky but loyal best friend. The two have known each other since high school. While living a carefree, frivolous lifestyle, he worries deeply about Adam’s condition – although sometimes too much to the point of becoming selfish and manipulative.
