She lives with her mom in LA and attends a progressive private school, Rosewood Elementary. Cedar loves her mom. She also loves blocks and building, creating new worlds, playing pretend and eating ice cream. She is really excited to be in the school play and never misses a chance to snuggle up with her mom and read books. Cedar is very comfortable with her body. She knows a few things that other kids might not, like exactly what menstruation is, where babies really come from, and how to navigate consent and touch. She is happy to explain to you the difference between gender and sex and will make sure to ask for your pronouns and tell you hers when you meet.
Cedar is also a nature-lover and animal whisperer — every cat or dog they meet quickly becomes a new neighborhood friend. She is incredibly empathetic, social with folks of all ages and confident in her own voice. This little kid will stand up against injustice, feels all the feels in a really big way, and can strike up a conversation and win over just about anyone. It’s just her and her mom and they are very close and have a secure emotional bond of love, trust and respect.
Pilot Synopsis: Dirty Laundry is a 30-minute drama series that revolves around Everest Wilder, an adult film actress and mother living in Los Angeles whose life is turned upside down when she gets a call that her mother has passed away. Everest and her young daughter, Cedar, travel home to Oregon for the funeral where Everest finds herself coming face to face with sexual stigma and shame, past lovers, homophobia, and haunting childhood memories. The series has a powerful mythical Persephone/Underworld theme that folks relate to on a core level. We have all faced our shadow selves, the underworld of our emotional landscape and in this narrative, we view that shadow work through a modern queer feminist lens that is rich and nuanced.
