CASTING CALL notice for “Dad and Me”
Logline: An ex-drug lord returns to the past where he hopes to mend his relationship with his son only to realize… that he is far too late.
Filming Locations: Locations expected for filming will be at a home garage in El Cajon and a retirement home in the greater San Diego area.
Luis – mid-30s to mid-40s, strong Latino man with a machismo personality, craves attention, and always wants to be at the center of it. His hard-exterior masks his pain, and creates a divide between him and his son that is beyond repair.
(child actor) Anthony – 7-9 years old, a sensitive young man who craves attention from the only man that he looks up to. In touch with his feelings deeply, he resents his father and the pain that he has caused him.
Union Status: Non-Union
Rate of pay or unpaid: $100 a day, with gas and food provided.
Audition location: Self-tape submission + online Q&A via Skype, Zoom, or Discord
Audition dates: Between September 15 through September 24th
Shooting/performance dates: To be determined based on all Actors’ availability and when locations are finalized. Production is expected to be spread over one weekend with the aim to start filming Nov. 6-8
Usage: Final project will be used to submit to film festivals and graduate school submission; moreover, any behind the scenes videos/stills will also be uploaded to other social media platforms. Video consent and release forms will be required for this project.
Copy of Work: Yes, a digital link/copy to the finished project will be given.
COVID-19 safety protocols: The safety of the crew/public is paramount, and all actors will be expected to adhere to the “San Diego Supplemental Guidelines of Film Permitting and COVID-19 Prevention” and “San Diego’s Safe Reopening Plan” during production.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as Mask coverings and a Sanitizing Station (Hand sanitizer, Handsoap, Disinfecting wipes) will be provided for actors on set. In addition: *Signed copies of the San Diego Safe Reopening Plan will be made accessible to the crew and posted during production.
*Crew will have temperature taken upon arriving on set, and screen for symptoms mentioned in the “SD Safe Reopening Plan” *We will maximize teleworking opportunities when it comes to holding Auditions & any other Pre-Production preparations.
