New Conservatory Theatre Center
males various roles
New Conservatory Theatre Center is pleased to announce casting for the West Coast Premiere of “Locusts Have No King” by C. Julian Jiménez, directed by Richard A Mosqueda.
About the show: Two closeted gay couples get together for a dinner party. They work together. They live in the same building. They can’t stand each other. When one dreams of a life in the open, putting their shared secret at risk, it just might be the end of the world. They can’t allow this to happen. They won’t allow this to happen. All hell breaks loose… literally.
Casting the following roles (NON-AEA ONLY):
JONATHAN Any ethnicity, handsome. 45–55 Male. Naturally effeminate. Quick with the quips. Can tell a joke without trying. Is part of a love triangle with Marcus and Lucas.
MARCUS Any ethnicity, handsome 45–55 Male. Warm; super likable. Naturally effeminate. Matches Jonathan’s wit and is playful with him. Forever skeptical and jealous of Lucas.
MATTHEW Any ethnicity, handsome, 30–40 Male. The least effeminate of the group. Naive in spirit and looks. Reserved–a bit of a wet mop. He takes his religion very seriously. This character requires great range and physical control. He is quiet and contained on the outside but vibrating on the inside.
LUCUS Any ethnicity, handsome, 40–45 Male. Volatile yet charming. An alcoholic. Behaves as a ridiculous child and is a bit unstable. A fun drunk at first glance, but his demons shake loose with each drink. Lucus should be able to turn on and off his effeminate side; can go from guy next door to high camp in a split second. Think Jaded Billy Eichner/Bill Hader
