Matthew Schmid Pictures, in collaboration with Cifuentes Media/StationPOP, is now looking for Georgia tap dancers ages 10-25 to portray background tap dancers in “Lola & Zoe’s Taptastic Movie”, an indie feature film to be filmed in the state of Georgia, tentatively in August 2020.
GA locals are preferred, but if any tap dancers from out of state are interested in submitting, they must be willing to work as GA locals.
 
Must have tap dance experience/ability to submit.
Those selected will mainly participate in dance studio scenes and will be performing choreography that they will be learning at home from the film’s choreographer, 14 year old Ania Morrow of Fayetteville, GA.

Project Description:

Project Title: Lola & Zoe’s Taptastic Movie
Synopsis: 15 year old Lola Patterson and her 11 year old younger sister, Zoe Patterson always try really hard to be great tap dancers like their mother, Jenna Patterson, who is the owner of their all tap dance studio, the Sugar Hill Tap Academy. When Lola gets rejected by 17 year old Sienna Finster to be a new member of the Queen Teen Tappers, she and Zoe form up their own tap team to compete against them in the Georgia Tap Team Contest.

Tap Dancer Roles:
Intermediate Tap Dancers – 10-15 years old. All ethnicities, both male and female. Selected tap dancers both male and female will be seen participating in two different intermediate tap dance classes. A few selected female tap dancers between the ages of 13-15 will be seen auditioning for the Queen Teen Tappers. A few selected tap dancers both male and female will be seen walking into the dance studio and hanging out/dancing/walking around in the hallway. Any selected tap dancers both male and female will possibly also be seen in the audience for the Georgia Tap Team Contest.
Advanced Tap Dancers – 14 to 25 years old. All ethnicities, both male and female. Selected tap dancers both male and female will be seen taking an advanced tap class from Spencer, Lola’s love interest. Selected female tap dancers will be seen auditioning for the Queen Teen Tappers. A few selected tap dancers both male and female will be seen walking into the dance studio and hanging out/dancing/walking around in the hallway. Any selected tap dancers both male and female will possibly also be seen in the audience for the Georgia Tap Team Contest.
The Shuffle Girls – 16 to 25 years old, all ethnicities female. A group of 5-7 female tap dancers, trained in the advanced level, who will be one of the three teams competing in the Georgia Tap Team Contest.
And here are the audition instructions below for those who are interested in applying:
If you are between the age of 10-25, you can apply by video audition. PLEASE DO NOT SUBMIT ONLY COMPETITION TAPES. YOU MAY INCLUDE RECORDING OF A COMPETITION SOLO TO SUPPORT YOUR APPLICATION.
Step 1: Create your video. ON YOUR VIDEO YOU SHOULD INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:
1. Tell me a bit about yourself. Tell me where you are from, how long you’ve been tap dancing, what you love about tap, and your tap dance goals for the future.
2. Dance a short routine (minimum 2 minutes, maximum 4 minutes) with or without music, that demonstrates your rhythmic, technical and artistic ability. You may also submit any previous videos of you tapping if you’d like.
3. Show me your favorite step and explain why you love it.
4. Please also include some improvisation if you improvise.
5. Tell me why you’d like to be a part of Lola & Zoe’s Taptastic Movie.
Step 2: Email your audition to me
It can be sent as either a video attachment or a sharing sight such as YouTube, Google Drive or Vimeo.
All submissions are free. A limited amount of dancers will be selected to be a part of this project. Those selected will find out via email sometime before August and will be sent tutorial videos to learn the choreography from the film’s choreographer, Ania Morrow of Fayetteville, GA.
