Riverhead Faculty and Community Theatre
Males and Females 18+
ATTENTION ALL SINGERS: Is there a Broadway song you love to sing but just aren’t “right” for? Well, now’s your chance.
Riverhead Faculty and Community Theatre is holding auditions for our “miscast cabaret” of Broadway songs, performing April 29-May 1 at the Jamesport Meeting House. (Friday and Saturday at 8PM, Sunday at 2PM.) Singers will perform songs they’d be totally wrong for in the original stage musical–men singing women’s songs and vice versa, senior citizens singing songs written for much younger characters, etc.
We’re looking for approx. 3-4 men and 3-4 women to round out the cast. There will likely be no more than 8 rehearsals, partly to reduce COVID risk and partly to save production costs. Initial rehearsals will be set appointment times, so people aren’t sitting around waiting to rehearse their numbers. ALL CAST MEMBERS AND PRODUCTION TEAM MUST SHOW PROOF OF FULL COVID VACCINATION AND BOOSTER SHOT.
The director is pre-planning some of the program, with the hope that performers will supply the rest. People should audition with an appropriately “miscast” song that they would like to be considered for the show. (Depending on the number of auditioners, you may be stopped before your song is over.) The plan is for everyone to be in at least two numbers in the show, possibly three. (Some will be duets.) The cast is responsible for providing their own sheet music for any numbers they wish to perform.
