Males and Females 20-30's

Rochester Community Players: Irish Program announces auditions for particular roles in The Playboy of the Western World, by John Millington Synge, for production in April of 2022, directed by Jean Gordon Ryon.
This production was slated for April of 2020 but had to be halted because of the pandemic shutdown. The show is now back in production with most of the original cast except for a few roles that need to be recast.
Rehearsals will begin in late January. Performance dates for Playboy are between April 10 and May 1, 2022, at MuCCC. All acting positions are volunteer.
For auditions, a prepared monologue is preferred but not required. Auditioners will be asked to read scenes from the script. Cast members will need to use an Irish accent; dialect coaching will be provided.
The Playboy of the Western World is a classic Irish comedy by John Millington Synge. It had its first performance at the Abbey Theatre in Dublin in 1907, and provoked riots because of its somewhat unflattering depiction of the Irish character. The story shows what happens when a young man wanders into a public house, claiming he has just killed his father with a spade. Instead of condemning the murder, the locals treat the man like a rock star, and all goes well for him until his father shows up, very much alive. The play is famous not only for its story, but also for the beauty of its language.
Actors will be cast on the basis of the age they can play, not necessarily the age they are.
The roles being sought currently are:
Margaret Flaherty (Pegeen Mike)
