The Kansas African American Museum is seeking emerging and experienced theatrical talent to participate in a Paid acting opportunity (Non Equity) in the Culturally Focused Kansas African American Museum presentation of Canaan.
Canaan tells the coming-of-age story of a teenager and his community, caught between love, activism, and spirituality during one of the most tumultuous years in American history – 1968. In Canaan, generations collide as Southeast Washington, D.C. neighbors must decide where their loyalties lie when the Civil Rights Movement takes a downward turn following the untimely death of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King.
Written by award-winning Wichita playwright — Micah Ariel Watson.
Directed by Sheila Kinnard, in her professional directorial debut.
Auditions for the play are January 4th & 5th.
Performances for April 2022.
